QCONZ SYNC in Sri Lanka
QCONZ is contracted to supply milk quality consultancy advice and training in the Dairy Excellence Training Initiative project currently running in Sri Lanka. As a part of our service we offered to convert a farm KPI calculator, developed specifically for the project, in to a more user-friendly App.
The calculator is designed to allow a consultant to enter a few bits of information readily available on nearly all farms. From this information the calculator will show the consultant and the farmer how the farm is performing and it will also match this performance against regional KPI’s. It is a very clever way to quickly get a handle on the current farm situation and so give immediate feedback to the farm owner.
When we saw the spreadsheet in its original format it quickly became obvious to us that our existing QCONZ SYNC platform was the perfect tool to get the spreadsheet more widely used. SYNCis a forms based App and so this allows us a very cost effective way forward. A complete new App wasn’t required – all we needed was for a form template to be built and released inside the SYNC App.
Our developers took the original spreadsheet and quickly built the form template in SYNC for distribution to Sri Lankan farm consultants involved in the project. The template was completed and after a few minor tweaks to improve outcomes this was successfully rolled out. The total time, from initiating to roll out was approximately 2 weeks. The App is now set up for approximately 200 consultants to log on to and use with potential to add many more.
As an added bonus, now that the information is being collected centrally rather than sitting in hundreds of spreadsheets, the ability to report more effectively is greatly enhanced.
