QCONZ selected as NZGAP auditors

Date: August 25, 2025

QCONZ is proud to announce its selection as an official audit and certification provider for the New Zealand Good Agricultural Practice (NZGAP) programme.

NZGAP certifies New Zealand fruit and vegetable growers, providing the assurance they need to supply into domestic markets. Programme members are independently audited every three years to ensure they continue to meet the high standards expected by the horticulture sector and consumers.

This selection follows NZGAP’s first review of audit providers in more than 15 years. In a recent release by Horticulture New Zealand, it was noted that QCONZ was selected as a new certification assessment body due to its strong alignment with NZGAP’s vision of safe, sustainable food production and its ability to bring fresh capability to the sector.

“Becoming an NZGAP audit provider is an exciting step for QCONZ,” says Chris Leach, QCONZ CEO. “We look forward to supporting New Zealand growers with efficient, practical audits that not only maintain compliance but also add value to their businesses. Our focus will be on providing excellent service to growers, embracing digital tools, and helping to keep audit costs down.”

QCONZ has been delivering assurance services across a wide range of agricultural sectors for many years and will bring proven systems and innovative solutions to support NZGAP and its members.

The company is currently completing the necessary steps to obtain the required recognitions and will be ready to begin NZGAP auditing later this year.

“We’re excited to work with NZGAP and HortNZ to strengthen confidence in New Zealand-grown fruit and vegetables, and to continue building trust in the quality and integrity of the food our growers produce,” adds Chris.
